Saturday’s Pink Martini concert may be sold out, but we have one pair of tickets to the (nearly sold out) Sunday show at the Oregon Zoo for one lucky PQ reader.
If you’re not familiar with our fabulous hometown “little orchestra,” here’s what the concert series organizers have to say:
Drawing inspiration from the romantic Hollywood musicals of the ’40s and ’50s, Pink Martini adds a global perspective, championing music from many different cultures. With 12 musicians (and sometimes a string section), the group has performed its multilingual repertoire on concert stages and with symphony orchestras throughout the world.
Pink Martini made its European debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 and its orchestral debut with the Oregon Symphony in 1998 under the direction of Norman Leyden. Since then, the band has gone on to play with more than 25 orchestras, including multiple engagements with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, the Boston Pops, the National Symphony at the Kennedy Center and the BBC Concert Orchestra in London.
Here are your questions (all the answers can be found on our website):
1. What bar is facing a BOLI investigation for allegedly discrimination against transgender patrons?
2. What kind of dance did Racquel Russo perform as a child?
3. What’s Daniel Borgen’s astrological sign?
You have until midnight tonight, Aug. 8, to send in your answers. We’ll announce the winners tomorrow. And…..GO!
Stay tuned for the next PQ Hump Day Free Ride.
