Eden PNW Brings Women-Centered Weekend to Seaside

By Shaley Howard, PQ Monthly

PQ Monthly, EDEN Pride and The Seattle Lesbian are joining forces to present the inaugural EDEN Pacific Northwest — a four day weekend getaway for women and friends in the beautiful coastal town of Seaside, Ore. Oct 3-6.

This four day weekend retreat will have something for everyone — bonfires on the beach, hiking, gallery tours, comedy, live music, world-class female DJs, bumpin’ hot dances, and more. And what would a women-centered weekend at the beach be without a clam dig? Seriously, there will actually be a couple of fun guided excursions for clamming and fishing so you can learn how to catch, clean, and cook them.

EDEN PNW’s charm is that it’s women-centered and much like Women’s Week Provincetown or a more inclusive Michigan Womyns Music Festival, it offers not only a smorgasbord of activities but aims to create an atmosphere that is alluring and unique. Women-centered events and space are often more inclusive, connecting and rejuvenating. You might think of this as a women’s East Coast P-Town (Provincetown, Mass.) meets West Coast P-Town (Portland, Ore.), but happening at the Oregon Coast.

The creation of EDEN PNW is a collaboration among Melanie Davis and Gabriela Kandziora of PQ Monthly (owner-publisher and director of partnerships and business development, respectively), Miz Chris of EDEN Pride Events, and Sarah Toce of The Seattle Lesbian. The result of their efforts – a new, sexy, and enticing weekend event for women on the Oregon Coast.

“It’s a four day weekend for women that is a cross between Dinah and Provincetown…..done NW style. We’ll have guided hiking, shopping, galleries, bonfires, and of course sexy dances,” Davis says. “Happening during the best time and weather on the Oregon Coast has to offer. This event is family friendly, and welcoming of dogs.”

Seaside is a kitschy little gem of a town just 90 minutes west of Portland. One of the Northwest’s favorite getaway locations, it offers miles of beach with spectacular views and is centrally located on the west coast so accessibility is easy for all. There’s plenty of outdoor activity here for everyone including wave watching, bumper cars, kite flying, shopping, microbreweries, golf, delicious dining, and motorcycling. “EDEN PNW is unlike any other women’s weekend,” Toce says in a release. “Where else can you ride a Harley one minute then play arcade games and eat salt water taffy the next? Add to that dance parties overlooking the water and bonfires in the sand and you’ve got the perfect destination location.”

The Shilo Inn Suites Oceanfront Hotel is the host hotel and EDEN PNW has secured some great rates for the weekend. If you’re not sure what to do with Fido, you’re in luck as furry friends are welcome for a small fee. Tickets and a full listing of events are available online.
